About

Transform from the inside out

I believe that everything we do in life comes from experiences that’ve shaped us. Depending on the intensity of the event & how our body perceives it, it’ll be logged into our nervous system as a safe or an unsafe experience. Our bodies at the basic level want to feel safe and will create behaviors (healthy/unhealthy) to protect us. For most, when we feel bad later about our behaviors, this means our body perceived the event as a threat. We’ll explore with a curious mindset why this is happening and boundaries that can be put in place. We will evaluate /decipher what coping skills/behaviors are harmful and re-program them in your body. This method is called EMDR. I also interweave concepts from IFS & attachment theory when needed. Brittany's other passion is conducting neurofeedback which starts with a brain scan and then a tailored protocol to regulate the nervous system through brain wave training. Neurofeedback therapy helps regulate your nervous system and restore nervous system flexibility and resiliency. What is neurofeedback? During a Neurofeedback training session, sensors are placed on your head. The sensors pick up information on your brain’s activity at specific locations. No electricity enters your brain. The sensors merely read information from the brain and relay it to the Practitioner’s computer. Then you relax as you watch a computer monitor that displays a computer game, a movie, a bar graph, or simply colors that change as your brainwaves change. The Practitioner monitors your brainwaves and sets training parameters or protocols which are based upon information obtained during your comprehensive intake process. The most common method used by clinicians of receiving feedback is by using a dimmer on the monitor display. At the same time, you watch a movie – usually your favorite Netflix show. When your brain produces favorable brainwaves, musical tones will sound, and the screen will become brighter. And, when your brain produces unfavorable brainwave patterns, the monitor will dim or disappear. This process gives your brain instantaneous feedback about its performance during the training session. On a subconscious level, your brain begins to learn what it needs to do to make your computer screen bright and to see the video being displayed. Then it begins to produce more of the helpful type of brainwave patterns and less of those that are related to the symptoms you are addressing. With practice, your brain adapts new patterns. Desirable neuronal pathways are strengthened, and new pathways are created. As your brain learns what it needs to do to make your computer screen active and see the video displayed, the Practitioner gradually makes the goals a bit more challenging – to challenge your brain to do even better. This is similar to sports or weight training workouts we discussed previously – as your muscles become accustomed to one weight, a little more weight is added until you build new muscle, form, and ability. With neurofeedback training, your brain learns how to work at a more optimal level over time. It's effective for ADHD, Anxiety, PTSD, Autism, Depression, TBI (concussions), academic success, anger outbursts,ADHD, epilepsy, Autism, Insomnia, drug addiction, mental performance for athletes, Schizophrenia and learning disabilities.etc. I offer remote options for neurofeedback at the convenience of your own home! Email me for more details and prices on neurofeedback! I offer telehealth counseling services for people living in Idaho and Utah. I am currently not accepting anymore couples on my caseload at this time. You can find out if I am in your network by calling the number on your back of your insurance card. My information is suppressed on the online directory since I am only telehealth.
